# Rain Driver — Back up your Windows drivers before you reinstall.

Create a verified Driver Passport of your current network, storage, graphics and other drivers — then restore them after reinstalling Windows. Rain Driver also finds updates from official sources and explains what Windows reports. It changes nothing without your approval.

## Why Rain Driver

- **Explains, never scares** — A driver's age is shown, never called outdated. You see why a driver is — or is not — worth changing, in plain language.
- **Safe by design** — Before an update, Rain Driver creates a Windows restore point and exports the existing driver package. If the safety step fails, the update does not start.
- **Official sources only** — Drivers come from Windows Update and the manufacturers' own catalogs and download pages — never from a driver-pack website.

## More than a driver updater

Rain Driver helps you understand, protect, recover and restore your Windows drivers using built-in Windows tools and official manufacturer sources.

- **Driver Passport** — Your PC's driver identity, saved. Driver Passport records your hardware IDs, installed driver versions and backed-up driver packages in one portable snapshot, verifies it with SHA-256 checksums and helps restore matching drivers after a Windows reinstall.
- **Device Problem Doctor** — See what Windows is actually reporting. Rain Driver detects Device Manager problem codes such as 10, 28 and 43, explains what they mean and offers sensible diagnostic actions. It never pretends every hardware or driver problem can be fixed automatically.
- **Driver Timeline** — Understand what changed — and when. One timeline combines driver installs, Windows Update activity, device problems, graphics resets and Rain Driver actions. It shows order in time and never claims that one thing caused another.
- **Protected Updates** — A safer way to try a new driver. Before a manufacturer update Rain Driver records the current state and saves a copy of your drivers. After the restart it checks the result and can offer to restore the previous package when it is available.
- **Rescue Bundle** — Keep the drivers you need when Windows is freshly installed and offline. Put your Passport, your saved drivers and a one-click restore script on a USB stick; network drivers go first so you can get online quickly.

## Rain AI — a driver expert on your side

Rain AI receives a limited technical summary of the device or driver you ask about and returns an explanation and suggested next steps, in your language. It cannot install, remove or change a driver.

- **Explains, never scares** — Why a driver is fine, why another deserves a look, and what a device problem code really means.
- **Only suggests — you decide** — It cannot change anything. A restore point or a manufacturer page is offered as a button, and nothing happens until you click.
- **Private by design** — Only a short summary of hardware and driver facts is sent — never your files, logs, name, serial numbers or e-mail.
- **Your language** — Ask and read answers in your own language.

## Questions

**Is it the same as Rain Cleaner?**

No. Rain Cleaner looks after the whole PC. Rain Driver is a separate program focused only on drivers.

**Does it work on 32-bit Windows?**

Yes. There is a 32-bit edition of Rain Driver, and on a 32-bit Windows it finds, downloads and installs the 32-bit drivers that match your PC — which is what most hardware from the 2000s needs. A 32-bit driver cannot be used on 64-bit Windows, so Rain Driver always picks the one that matches your system.

**How old can the hardware be?**

We aim for hardware from around the year 2000 up to today. Rain Driver itself runs on Windows 7 SP1, 8.1, 10 and 11, 32-bit and 64-bit (there is a separate Windows 7 / 8.1 edition); it cannot run on Windows XP or Vista, but it can still prepare drivers for them. Very old unsigned drivers cannot be loaded by 64-bit Windows, and where no compatible driver exists Rain Driver tells you so honestly.

**Will it install drivers automatically?**

Only when you ask. Every change is preceded by a restore point and a copy of your current driver.

**Is Rain AI free?**

It is included with the Lifetime plan. With Monthly or Yearly you can add it for €4.99 per month and cancel any time.

**What does Rain AI send?**

Only a short summary: your Windows version, and for the drivers in question their name, maker, version, date and hardware ID. Never files, logs, your name, serial numbers or e-mail. Rain AI cannot change anything on your PC.

**Is this a finished release?**

It is a public beta: the program is used and tested, but the first builds are not code-signed yet, so Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning. Leave your e-mail below if you would like one message when the signed release is out.

**Can Rain Driver guarantee it fixes Code 10, 28 or 43?**

No. These codes can come from drivers, firmware, configuration or failing hardware. Rain Driver explains the problem and offers safe diagnostic and recovery actions.

**Does Driver Passport restore the apps that came with my hardware?**

No. It protects INF-based Windows driver packages. Vendor apps, control panels and firmware tools may need to be downloaded from the manufacturer.

**Will Rain Driver force an old driver over a better one?**

No. Windows driver ranking still decides which matching driver is used. Rain Driver restores a previous compatible package and tells you what Windows actually chose.

**Does Protected Update guarantee recovery if Windows cannot start?**

No. Software running inside Windows cannot guarantee that. Rain Driver creates a restore point and a copy of the drivers first, but important PCs should still have normal backups.

**Does it work on older Windows?**

Yes. The Windows 7 / 8.1 edition (32-bit and 64-bit) uses the older driver commands that those systems have, so a few features — for example restarting a single device — need Windows 10 version 2004 or newer. Windows XP and Vista are not supported.
