No account, no in-app telemetry, no third-party analytics. The program talks to our server for only three things, each written out below: the update check, a Pro key you enter, and a free Pro trial you start.
The program asks raincleaner.eu/v1/version whether a newer build exists. The request carries nothing about you or your machine. Like any web server, ours writes the requesting IP address and the time into its log.
If there is no network, nothing happens and nothing nags.
Then, and only then, the key — or the request for the free trial — is sent together with a fingerprint of the machine. The fingerprint is a SHA-256 hash of the Windows machine GUID, the size of the system disk and the computer name, shortened to 32 characters. A hash goes one way: none of those three can be read back out of it, and it says nothing about the person at the keyboard. The free trial uses it so that each PC gets one.
Pro is bought through Stripe. We never see card details; we keep the buyer's email address and Stripe's references to the purchase, so the key can be sent, restored and managed.
The scan results and their explanations — the knowledge base is a file on your disk, not a service. The protection journal, which records paths and command lines and never the contents of a file. Anything moved to quarantine, encrypted locally with a key that never leaves the machine. Every boost and every network change is written down locally so it can be undone.
None of it is uploaded, and there is no button that would upload it.
Like any website, the site's server records IP addresses in its log as part of delivering the pages. Our own server counts downloads from its log: one address counts once per six hours per file, which is the only reason the counter on the site is a real number and not a flattering one. We also aggregate these logs into daily counts (visitors, downloads, update checks, trials, checkouts, purchases) to see where people drop off; the counts are not joined per person and are not shared.
There are no tracking cookies and no advertising scripts. The one cookie is rc_lang, written only when you pick a language by hand so that your choice wins from then on.
If you choose to answer "What is stopping you from upgrading?" on our website, we keep the answer you picked, what you typed and the date. No email, no IP address, no machine ID — and nothing is sent until you press Send.
If you ask for Rain Cleaner Business early access at raincleaner.eu/business, we keep the company name, the e-mail address, the number of PCs, your message and the date — only to write to you about early access. Ask support@raincleaner.eu and we delete it.
Drivers are searched for and installed through Windows Update — Microsoft's own channel, under Microsoft's own terms. Nothing is hosted, mirrored or repackaged here. A manufacturer's page opens in your browser only when you click it.
Write to support@raincleaner.eu. Since nothing identifying is stored, in most cases the honest answer is that there is nothing on file to hand over or delete.
